Poker Hand Rankings

Learn every standard Texas Hold’em hand, listed from strongest to weakest.

  1. Rank 1

    Royal Flush

    Ace-high straight with all five cards in the same suit.

    Tie breaker: All royal flushes are equal.

  2. Rank 2

    Straight Flush

    Five consecutive cards in the same suit.

    Tie breaker: The highest card in the straight determines the winner.

  3. Rank 3

    Four of a Kind

    Four cards of the same rank.

    Tie breaker: Compare the four matching cards first, then the kicker if necessary.

  4. Rank 4

    Full House

    Three cards of one rank and two cards of another rank.

    Tie breaker: Compare the three-of-a-kind rank first, then the pair.

  5. Rank 5

    Flush

    Five cards of the same suit that are not consecutive.

    Tie breaker: Compare the highest card, then continue downward as needed.

  6. Rank 6

    Straight

    Five consecutive cards containing more than one suit.

    Tie breaker: The highest card determines the winner. A-2-3-4-5 is five-high.

  7. Rank 7

    Three of a Kind

    Three cards of the same rank.

    Tie breaker: Compare the three matching cards first, then the kickers.

  8. Rank 8

    Two Pair

    Two cards of one rank and two cards of another rank.

    Tie breaker: Compare the higher pair, then lower pair, then kicker.

  9. Rank 9

    One Pair

    Two cards of the same rank.

    Tie breaker: Compare the pair first, then kickers from highest downward.

  10. Rank 10

    High Card

    A hand that does not qualify for another ranking.

    Tie breaker: Compare cards from highest downward.
